For families who love Halloween as much as they love camping, Halloween camping at Caboose Lake during Haunted Caboose Weekend is about as good as it gets. Held October 16 and 17, 2026, this is the campground’s flagship fall event, combining pumpkin carving, Halloween activities for kids, trick-or-treat time, the Best Decorated Campsite Contest, and a surprise event that keeps guests guessing every year.
Now in its 13th year, Haunted Caboose Weekend has become a tradition for many families, and it’s one of the best opportunities all season to experience Halloween camping at Caboose Lake the way it’s meant to be done: with pumpkins, costumes, and campfires all in one place.

Decorating Your Site for the Contest
Every year, the Best Decorated Campsite Contest brings out some seriously creative families. Popular touches include string lights, hay bales, carved pumpkins, and homemade Halloween signage. If your family is competitive by nature, arriving Friday afternoon gives you extra time to decorate before judging begins.
Why Families Keep Coming Back
What sets Halloween camping at Caboose Lake apart from a typical neighborhood trick-or-treat night is the atmosphere. Kids get to trick-or-treat across a whole campground of decorated sites, evenings end around a campfire instead of rushing home, and the cooler October air makes for genuinely comfortable trick-or-treating weather. It’s a weekend built entirely around family time, without a lot of the rush that comes with Halloween at home.
