At Caboose Lake Campground, guests come for the fun, stay for the memories—and sometimes, they’re greeted by a whiskered local who’s claimed our front desk as her kingdom. Meet Tiger Lilly, our beloved office kitty who’s captured the hearts of campers young and old since the spring of 2023.

From Stray to Superstar

Tiger Lilly first appeared one chilly spring morning, as if she had been summoned by the smell of fresh campfire coffee and the promise of sunshine. Young, friendly, and undeniably adorable, she strolled right into the office like she owned the place—and frankly, she kind of does now. Ever since that day, Tiger Lilly has become more than a stray cat. She’s become family.

Her name comes from her favorite lounging spot—curled up in the flowerbeds among the tiger lilies near the office door. It’s there, half-hidden in the blooms, that guests often catch a glimpse of her mid-morning sunbathing. The name stuck, and so did she.

A Day in the Life of Tiger Lilly

Tiger Lilly is a creature of habit, and her daily routine is as charming as it is heartwarming.

  • 10:00 AM sharp: When the campground office opens for the day, she’s already waiting outside, ready for her morning gourmet breakfast. The staff gives her a special can of cat food to start her day, and she happily digs in.

  • Mid-morning through afternoon: She makes her way to her personal cat bed under the front counter—prime real estate for a nap and a perfect spot to soak in the office buzz. As guests come and go, checking in for their weekend getaway or grabbing wristbands for the inflatable water park, Tiger Lilly snoozes peacefully, her soft purring often blending with the sound of happy chatter and flip-flops on the floor.

  • Office hours: You might spot her resting on the front desk or perched on the table like a furry concierge. Kids point excitedly. Adults pause to pet her. She’s a hit with everyone who crosses her path.

  • Evening adventures: When the office closes and the sun begins to dip behind the lake, Tiger Lilly heads out for her nightly rounds. She roams the campground freely, making surprise visits to campsites and greeting guests by their campfires. Some even say she’s a lucky charm—bringing good vibes, cozy nights, and maybe an extra marshmallow on your s’mores stick.

Late night lounging: True to her name, she often returns to her flowerbed of tiger lilies to wind down her night, curling into a ball as the stars come out.

Everyone’s Favorite Feline

Tiger Lilly is more than a campground cat. She’s a mascot, a mood, a piece of the Caboose Lake charm. Whether she’s greeting families in the store or sneaking a nap behind the snack shelf, she makes every guest feel like they’re home.

She’s so adored that our team keeps treats stocked in the Dropbox at the front desk, donated by a generous volunteer, so that guests can give her a little love during their stay. She’s also the reason we kindly ask guests to keep an eye out while driving through the park. Tiger Lilly may be street-smart, but she’s also a wanderer with nine lives to protect!
